Schallenberger has two on-campus, before-school music enrichment programs: Band and Choir. Practice is held in the Music Room (Room 13) or the cafeteria. Student participation requires parent payment.

Band is for students currently in 3rd, 4th and 5th Grades at Schallenberger, taught by Mr. Harry Reed and his son. They run and teach other local elementary band programs at including Trace and Booksin. This is an optional activity that is paid for by parents. The cost to participate in this entire 2014-15 school year of music instruction is $225 per student. Students do not need prior music experience to participate and all are expected to be beginners.
Instruments: Choices are flute, clarinet, saxophone, trumpet and percussion. Each student will need to purchase or rent their own instrument and should bring it to the first day of practice. At the start of the year, there is an instrument rental night at school hosted by Park Avenue Music store if you are interested in renting or picking up other band supplies (music stands, books, reeds, etc.). Instruments can be rented on the spot and taken home that night.
Practice: Band students will attend three practice sessions a week, held on campus before school from 7:20-8:10am on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday. Monday and Tuesday will be in Room 13, and Thursday will be in the cafeteria. Practice starts Sept 2nd for the 2014-15 school year.
Cost: $255 for the 2014-15 school year

Led by a long-time music instructor at Schallenberger, Ms. Noree Williams, Before School Choir is open to confident readers enrolled in grades 1st through 5th. Boys and girls will enjoy learning ballads, raps, Broadway tunes, Big Band and fun music tailored especially for them.
Practice: Choir students will attend practice once a week on Wednesday at 7:45 – 8:15am in Room 13. Fall session runs September 17 to December 17, with no practice on Sept 30 or Nov 11.
Cost: The twelve week session is $180. A a 50% sibling discount is available.
