What is the Schallenberger Home & School Association?

A non-profit organization operated by parent volunteers, the purpose of the Schallenberger Home and School Association (SHSA) is to support and enhance the educational environment and enrichment programs available to students at Schallenberger Elementary. Managed by an elected Board of Directors, SHSA relies on parent and community involvement, as well as strives to strengthen relationships between home and school. Similar to the PTA, this organization is different in that we don’t require membership fees from parents or pay fees to a national organization, which leaves more funds available to spend on programs and services for the school.

How can parents and family members get involved?

We always welcome volunteers! Contact SHSA Membership if you’re interested or have questions about volunteering.

Why is SHSA so important?

The SHSA Board strives to understand the priorities of parents, teachers and students to deliver valuable programs which inspire students to learn and grow. We all want the best for our children, and for SHSA that begins with fundraising to generate the funds necessary to pay for programs not included in the school budget. We work together to ensure our teachers have the tools they need for arts and music enrichment, science programs, and positive climate experiences. Without SHSA, our children would be missing critical experiential learning opportunities to broaden their perspectives.
