Roles that still need you.
Every Schallenberger family is already an SHSA member. Below is the full 2026–2027 team — who's signed on, and the roles still looking for a parent to raise their hand.
How volunteering works
There's no minimum. Some roles are a single afternoon; others run across the year. Pick what fits your season of life — we'll help you find the right fit.
- One-time or ongoing — help at a single event, or take on a coordinator role
- On campus or from home — plenty of roles you can do around your own schedule
- New this year? — no experience needed; returning volunteers will show you the ropes
Interested? Just email us
Tell us which role catches your eye — or that you're not sure yet — and we'll help you find a fit. Reach the membership team at membership@shsa.info.
Heads up: roles that work with students on campus also need a quick SJUSD volunteer application for school approval.
Positions still open for 2026–2027
These roles don't have a lead yet. Claiming one is the single biggest way to help this year — and you won't be doing it alone.
Field Trip Coordinator
Year-round · light but steady
Coordinating and organizing field trips for the various grades! Another one of our lovely SHSA board members (Julene) has owned this for a few years and we'd love to pass this along to someone who will be at the school for a while.

Seasonal · fall
Although we still have our two chairs for this already filled, we are looking at shifting dates to celebrating this is November. If we do that, we will need another chair to help as one of our chairs is going to be traveling that week.

Seasonal · spring
At the end of the year we have a fun event where kids are in small groups and read different works they put together throughout the year. It's a really great celebration of their successes in writing and we need someone to coordinate the event as the previous owner of this event has graduated from parenting elementary aged kiddos!
